So she sent against her when she was bathing handmaidens dressed up as Furies, who seized Helen and hanged her on a tree, and for this reason the Rhodians have a sanctuary of Helen of the Tree.

A story too I will tell which I know the people of Crotona tell about Helen. The people of Himera too agree with this account. In the Euxine at the mouths of the Ister (2) is an island sacred to Achilles. It is called White Island [Λευκή], and its circumference is twenty stades. It is wooded throughout and abounds in animals, wild and tame, while on it is a temple of Achilles with an image of him.

In time he [sc. Leonymus von Crotona] was healed (3) and returned from White Island, where, he used to declare, he saw Achilles, as well as Ajax the son of Oileus and Ajax the son of Telamon. With them, he said, were Patroclus and Antilochus; Helen was wedded to Achilles, and had bidden him sail to Stesichorus at Himera, and announce that the loss of his sight was caused by her wrath.

Nicht im Hades, sondern auf der Insel Leuke im Schwarzen Meer leben sie alle freundlich-friedlich, die griechischen Helden des Krieges um Troja. Jedenfalls gemäß dieser Variante des Mythos.

Heute heißt Leuke Ostriw Smijinyj (Schlangeninsel) und ist von strategischer Bedeutung im Angriffskrieg Russlands auf die Ukraine, wurde von dieser meiner Erinnerung nach zurückerobert.

Auch Herakles wurde vom Mythos nach seinem Tod verheiratet - mit Hebe, der Göttin der Jugend.

Ja, diese Schlangeninsel haben die Ukrainer zurückerobert. Achilles & Co. wurden dort nicht mehr gefunden. Entweder handelt es sich da nur um eine Legende, oder die Russen haben sie während ihrer Besetzung ermordet. Das müßte vom IStGH untersucht werden.
